100. Why do some proteins have Fc tags?

A recombinant protein may be fused to the Fc region of IgG for multiple reasons. It can be used for purification, for detecting the protein with an anti-IgG antibody in a binding assay, or to encourage the formation of disulfide-linked homodimers which increases the bioactivity of some recombinant proteins.
